BIRTHING BIRTH CENTER FOR FIRST PREGNANCY?

if this is your FIRST pregnancy but you're healthy WHO would you talk to about going to a birth center instead of the hospital, your OB-GYN? Is it smart to go to a birth center than a hospital. I know If I could, and I'm healthy and so is the baby, boy Id be MUCH more comfortable there than a stuffy hospital, I get slightly uncomfortable just going to the hospital to visit people. I'm very much more homely.
