While you are deployed your taxable income will decrease because there is no tax in a combat zone. By having less taxable income, you will therefor pay less taxes. Will it lower your return, yes, but only because you are paying less. In the long run, you will make more money while you are deployed because the taxes you usually pay will be put into your bank account.
