Need help with sticky situation?

My daughter is captain of her sports team, and is required to make a short speech of appreciation in honor of her coach at the upcoming school sports banquet. Unfortunately, most of her teammates (and their parents) detest this coach and have tried to get her fired. In fact, she was recently suspended while the school investigated the parents' complaints. Now she's been reinstated, and will be present at the banquet. My daughter has never had a problem with this coach and actually quite likes her - but she doesn't know what to say in this speech, which is supposed to be on behalf of the team. What can she say that will be diplomatic, and not piss everyone off?
