I have red scaly spots?

I only started out with one spot on my leg, and now they are on both legs and two spots on my back. My doctor thought that someone took a cig. to it. That is not the case at all. They start out as little pimples, and break out into a red spot looking scaly, and itch. I have put skin creams on them, lotions. It seems like nothing is helping. Help. Summer is almost here and I don't want to wear pants in 95 degree heat! Yuk!!
