Why do rats like plasma ?

When i let my two pet rats run free on a table, on which i also placed a plasma ball, the rats seem to like to touch the plasma ball with their front paws and snout. See my following video of one of the rats walking onto the plasma ball at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIbtcks50XA.
